A new chapter
in a much longer story
Faro Healthcare is a new chapter in a much longer story of caring for older Australians.
For Bryan Dorman, that story began more than 35 years ago, when aged care looked very different to the way it does today.
What began as a business opportunity for a young accountant soon became much more. Bryan saw the opportunity to create better places for older people to live and provide better care for the people who called them home.
Over the decades that followed, Bryan helped build and lead one of Australia’s major aged care organisations and played a part in shaping the way aged care in Australia evolved.
That experience also shaped his own view of what good aged care looks like. It starts with knowing the person, respecting the life they have lived and remembering that this is their home.
It is a philosophy that has stayed with him ever since. People living in aged care are not living in someone else’s workplace. The people caring for them are working in their home.
Aged care became part of family life too. Bryan’s sons, Nicholas and Andrew, grew up with conversations about the challenges, decisions and people behind it around the dinner table.
Today, that experience is coming together again through Faro Healthcare, with Nicholas at the helm, building on a family legacy in aged care and bringing his own perspective to what comes next.
The name Faro also has a connection to Bryan’s past. Early in his career, he worked with Australia’s Lighthouse Service. Faro means lighthouse in Italian and, for Bryan, represents responsibility, guidance and safe harbour.
It is a fitting name for what the family wants Faro to stand for.
We believe growing older shouldn’t mean leaving behind the life and community you have built. We want to create homes where people feel safe, comfortable and known, with high-quality care supporting everyday life rather than defining it.
Homes connected to their communities, places where family and friends remain close and, above all, spaces that feel like home.
That is what we are building at Faro Healthcare.
